Sewing Machine Needles 101

From experience, we know that choosing the right sewing machine needle is important to achieve optimal stitch quality, preserve sewing machine from damages and prevent fabric damage. There are many brands of sewing needles such as Schmetz, Violin, Flying Tiger, Organ etc.
We want you to be able to confidently identify sewing needles and make the right choices at all times.
HAx1 sewing needle
HAx1 needle is the same as 15×1 and 130/705H needles and is designed for use with domestic and manual sewing machines such as the black head sewing machines and table top sewing machines.
These sewing needles usually comes in cards / pack of 10 needles per card and 10 cards per box.
DBx1 sewing needle
DBx1 sewing needle system is designed for the industrial straight sewing machine such as Singer Industrial Sewing Machine, Two Lion Industrial Straight Sewing Machine – TL 8500, Two Lion Direct Drive Sewing Machine – TL 9900D, Industrial Straight Sewing Machine – EM 8500, Emel Direct Drive Straight Sewing Machine – EM M2 etc.
DCx1 sewing needle
DC x 1 sewing needle is designed for use with Industrial Overlock sewing machines such as the 2-thread, 3-thread, 4-thread or 5-thread overlock sewing machine. Examples of overlock machines includes the Emel Industrial Overlock Sewing Machine EM 737/747, Two Lion Industrial Overlock Sewing Machine 747/737 etc.
These needles are usually shorter in length compared to the DB x 1 needle and cannot be used interchangeably.
They come in cards / pack of 10 needles per card and 10 cards per box.
